TV All Over The News

Where to start? I thought this week was going to be a slow one...not all shows have started to air new episodes yet, but then came the news. The Jay Leno show is officially canceled, and after the Winter Olympics, Jay will continue hosting his show at his traditional time slot. Unfortunately, this moves Conan and Jimmy Fallon back. Reports are also circulating that Conan might leave the network. Looks like NBC's attempt to save money didn't work after all...nice try. Perhaps more devastating (to the three people that still watch Idol), Simon Cowell has decided to leave the show after 8 seasons. Ellen Degeneres takes her first shot at the judging panel tomorrow during Idol's season premiere. Desperate Housewives returned last weekend as well as another new episode that aired last night in which basically, Carl died, Orsen is paralyzed, and Susan strips her clothes, so basically nothing new. The Simpsons celebrated their 20th anniversary with guest star Anne Hathaway. Ugly Betty returned at their new time slot on Wednesday nights at 10, unfortunately for the chica fea, the People's Choice Awards also aired on CBS. ABC's hopes for higher ratings didn't work out so well, hopefully they give Betty another chance. Speaking of the People's Choice Awards, Mariah Carey stepped on the stage to accept her award while her assistant, I mean husband, Nick Cannon helped her with her dress. That was perhaps the most entertaining part of the night! Looking forward to new shows airing this week, and if you get a chance try to catch my brother in law Omi in Better of Ted on ABC tomorrow night.

New Year, New News, New Shows

Welcome to my news and entertainment blog, "What You Didn't Miss." At the end of each week I will post updates on the past week's news stories and TV show highlights you may have missed, or didn't miss.
The new year has come, time for networks to stop airing reruns and TV shows to get back to work. Shows like Grey's Anatomy, 3o Rock, and The Simpsons will continue their seasons with all new episodes, while others will kick their new season off for the spring. The long awaited final season of Lost is set to air February 2, 2o1o. JJ. Abrams definitely knows how to start a show, lets just see how he finishes it off.
Aside from entertainment television, broadcast journalists are hoping for another year of balloon boy stories and celebrity breakdowns. Just kidding! Lets hope we can start getting news about real issues this year.
Whether you are excited about television this year, or not, stay informed by reading my weekly blog so at least you'll have something to talk about when your friends argue about who should have won the hundredth season of survivor! Happy New Year!
